Licence for your mockups
Last updated 26 October 2026
This page answers the question most authors actually want answered: what can I do with the mockups I download?
The short version. Use them anywhere you are promoting a book — yours, or a client's. Do not sell the mockups themselves, and do not take our scenes to build something that competes with us.
What you may do
Once you download a mockup, you may use it freely to promote and sell books, including commercially and without paying us anything. For example:
- Your Amazon, Kobo, Apple Books or other retailer pages.
- Paid advertising — Meta, Amazon Ads, BookBub, Google, anywhere.
- Your website, newsletter and social media.
- Press kits, media packs and submissions to reviewers.
- Printed material: posters, postcards, banners, bookmarks.
- Work you do for a client as a designer or publisher, including work you are paid for.
You do not need to credit Bookmock. You are welcome to, and we would be glad if you did, but it is not required.
What you may not do
- Sell the mockups themselves. Selling or giving away a mockup as a template, a stock image, or a design asset is not allowed. Selling a book that a mockup advertises plainly is.
- Take the scenes. The scene photographs behind your cover remain ours to provide through this tool. Extracting, downloading in bulk, or redistributing them, with or without a cover on them, is not allowed.
- Build a rival. You may not use our scenes, masks or compositing work to make a competing mockup tool or library.
- Present it as a real printed copy. A mockup is an illustration, not a photograph of a physical book. Do not use one where that difference would mislead someone — as proof of a finished product, or on a crowdfunding page.
Your cover
Your cover stays entirely yours. Using Bookmock gives us no rights in it, and your cover is never uploaded to us. You are responsible for holding the rights to any cover you use here — including any artwork, photographs or fonts in it.
If this changes
We may change these terms for future downloads. Anything you downloaded while an earlier version was in force stays covered by the version that applied at the time. We are not going to come back later and tell you that mockups you already published are no longer allowed.
Still not sure?
If what you want to do is not clearly covered here, ask us at [email protected]. We would rather answer than have you guess.
